A Balanced Guide to Combination Skin

Sometimes dry, sometimes oily, but it doesn’t have to be confusing. Combination skin is easy to misunderstand, but here’s a rundown on all you need to know to take care of it safely and effectively.

Combination skin is simply when some parts of your skin are oily, and other parts are dry. This can be aggravated by several reasons like using harsh products and seasonal changes. The first step towards dealing with combination skin is identifying what parts of your face are oily or dry. Usually, the T-zone, composed of the forehead, nose, and chin is oily, and areas near the cheek, jawline, and hairline are dry.

Using a cleanser that both washes away dirt as well as hydrates is key for nourishing both the oily and dry parts of your skin. If your skin is acne-prone as well, a cleanser with salicylic acid will provide effective exfoliation without irritating the dry parts of your skin. Dermatologists recommend gently cleansing your face twice a day and exfoliating once a week.

Light and hydrating moisturisers work great for the entire face, as they don’t clog the pores of the oily parts, and moisturise the dry parts. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid are exceptionally hydrating and are safe to use for both skin types.

Botanic Hearth’s Jojoba and Hyaluronic Acid face wash is perfect for combination skin. Jojoba mimics the skin’s sebum to work with its protective lipid layer to regulate oil levels and lock in moisture. Hyaluronic acid deeply moisturises and quenches the dry patches of your skin.

For acne-prone skin, our Neem, Cica and Salicylic Acid face wash effectively exfoliates and unclogs pores to reduce breakouts, while also healing and soothing the skin to maintain balance and healthy skin throughout the face.
